The grape harvest (late September) and the Christmas markets (December) are the two peak periods. April and May to visit the vineyards without the crowds.

01Do you need a car to visit the Côte-d'Or?
No for Dijon and links between the main towns (Mobigo, Divia), but a car makes visiting the vineyards and remote villages in the Morvan or Châtillonnais much easier, since public transport is scarcer there.
02How much does a three-day trip to the Côte-d'Or cost?
The most variable expense is tastings, from 10 € to 120 € depending on the estate, with 50 to 100 € per person for a full day including meals. Accommodation follows the usual pattern of a French tourist destination, with peaks in September and November.
03How do you book a tasting at a wine estate?
By contacting the estate directly, two to four weeks ahead in high season (May to October). The most reputed estates often accept no visit without a booking.
04Is the Côte-d'Or suited to a family trip?
Dijon works well, with a pedestrian centre and several parks. The vineyard is less geared to children: few play areas in the cellars, and tastings obviously don't concern them.
05What number should you call in an emergency or to find an on-call pharmacy?
15 for a life-threatening emergency (SAMU), 116 117 for an on-call doctor outside normal hours, and 3237 (€0.35 incl. tax/min) to locate the nearest on-call pharmacy.
06Are there areas without mobile signal in the Côte-d'Or?
Some pockets of the Morvan and Châtillonnais remain poorly covered despite progress from the New Deal Mobile programme (88% of national territory in 4G by late 2023). Better to download offline maps before hiking in these areas.
