Travel budget in the Côte-d'Or:what it really costs in 2026

Accommodation, restaurants, tastings, transport: the real budget for a stay in the Côte-d'Or, from a budget weekend to a gourmet break, from €180 to €600.

9 min readUpdated July 2026

In short: a weekend in Côte-d’Or costs between €180 and €600 per person depending on comfort level. Accommodation accounts for 35 to 50% of the budget, dining 25 to 35%, activities and transport the rest. Prices rise in September (harvest) and November (Hospices sale).

Côte-d’Or is not France’s cheapest destination: Beaune’s character hotels and Michelin-starred tables push prices up, but it offers options for every budget. This guide gives realistic price ranges for 2026, compiled from public sources, without unrealistic promises.

Prices in this guide are indicative ranges, cross-checked from the official sources cited at the bottom of the page and public rates observed during 2026. They change with the season and the establishment: check the exact rate when booking.

Bed and breakfast

B&Bs in Côte-d’Or cost €80 to €120 per night, breakfast included. In wine villages (Gevrey, Pommard, Meursault), prices are higher (€90–130) than in the Auxois or Châtillonnais (€70–100). The Gîtes de France and Clévacances labels guarantee a minimum of comfort without guaranteeing charm.

Rural gîtes and rentals

A gîte for 4 people costs €350 to €700 per week depending on location. Per person per night: €12 to €25, the most economical option for week-long stays. Gîtes with a pool in the Beaune vineyard can reach €900–1,400 per week in July–August.

Campsites

Côte-d’Or has around thirty campsites, from modest municipal sites to 4★ campsites with pools. Expect €15 to €25 per night for a tent pitch, €40 to €80 for a mobile home. Morvan campsites (Lac des Settons) and those on the Canal de Bourgogne are best placed for visitors.

  • Plate of Burgundian cheeses (Époisses, Ami du Chambertin): €10–14

  • Bottle of Bourgogne village: €25–45 in a restaurant (2 to 3 times the wine shop price)

Eating on €25 a day

It is possible, without feeling deprived:

Tastings and cellar visits

Good news: most wine estates in Côte-d’Or offer free tasting, especially if you buy a bottle. Some highly reputed estates (grands crus, family estates in Vosne-Romanée or Gevrey-Chambertin) charge €10 to €25 per person, often deducted from purchase.

Guided cellar tours cost €15 to €35 per person depending on duration and the estate’s reputation. Introductory tasting courses (2–3h) range from €45 to €90.

Frequently asked questions

What budget should I allow for a weekend in Côte-d'Or?
Allow around €250 to €450 per person for a weekend (2 nights, meals, one tasting and local transport), depending on accommodation level.
Do I need to book far in advance?
Yes in September–October (harvest) and the Hospices weekend (November). Off peak, 2 to 4 weeks is often enough.
What is the minimum budget for a weekend in Côte-d'Or?
Staying in a youth hostel or with locals, picnicking in the evening and favouring free museums and complimentary tastings, a weekend can drop to €180–220 per person from Paris, transport included. But comfort will be spartan and the best tables out of reach.
Is Côte-d'Or more expensive than other wine regions?
Compared with Bordeaux (Saint-Émilion, Médoc) or Champagne, Côte-d'Or is slightly cheaper for accommodation (except Beaune in high season) and comparable for dining. Beaune's and Dijon's top tables charge similar prices to other French wine regions. The real difference is wine prices in restaurants, where a Bourgogne village often costs €25–45 a bottle.
When should I book to pay less?
For accommodation: book 2 to 3 months ahead for Beaune in September–November. For the TGV: tickets go on sale 4 months before departure; the best prices sell in the first few weeks. For starred restaurants: book 3 to 4 weeks ahead, more for November weekends (Hospices).
